Christmas InDownton

Christmas InDownton

The Christmas issue of InDownton marks two decades since the newsletter’s debut in December 2005, starting as a simple four-page update on church services for those off social media.

Backed by Downton Baptist Church, it has grown to 20 colourful pages, funded partly by adverts, chronicling village life through growth and even a pandemic pause. The team thanks advertisers, contributors, deliverers, and readers for keeping it alive, with a nod to memorable stories from past editions.

The spotlight falls on Downton’s big Christmas weekend from 5 to 7 December, packed with activities to shop local and support groups.

Friday kicks off with a Christmas tree sale at Long Close Park, the primary school’s fayre, village tree lights switch-on with singalong, and Salisbury Big Band concert at St Laurence Church for Lover Baby Bank.
