Downton Brewery Tap Bar & Shop

The Downton Brewery Tap Bar and Shop is a cosy spot attached to the Downton Brewery in Wiltshire, which has been brewing for about twenty years now. They opened the tap bar bit in the summer of 2023, and it’s become a popular place for locals and visitors to grab a drink and unwind.

It’s located the Downton Industrial Estate, near Salisbury. They keep things simple with opening hours just on Friday evenings from four until nine, making it a nice end-of-week hangout.

On the drinks side, you’ll find a good range of their own beers – they produce over thirty different ales each year in bottles and casks, using hops from various countries.

There’s usually at least ten cask ales on gravity pour, plus options like wine, gin and tonic, soft drinks, and even a low-alcohol beer called Secret Sobriety for those driving. The shop part lets you buy their beers and merchandise to take home.

For food, they bring in guest chefs each week to cook up stuff in the outdoor covered area – things like pizzas or Indian street food, depending on who’s there. They’ve got space over two floors inside, plus outdoor seating, and it’s all pretty relaxed with comfy spots.

They also host events sometimes, like live music nights or private parties, and there are a couple coming up soon with food specials. If you’re into real ales and a friendly vibe, it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.
