Redlynch & District Local History Society

The Redlynch & District Local History Society maintains a detailed archive of materials relating to the parish, encompassing Redlynch, Lover, Morgan’s Vale, Woodfalls, and nearby areas on the edge of the New Forest.

Founded in 1996, the society collects photographs, documents, and oral histories that document changes in the landscape, buildings, and daily life across these communities. Members have undertaken projects such as mapping and transcribing inscriptions from gravestones at St Mary’s churchyard in Lover, providing a resource for those tracing family connections in the area.

The society publishes The Redlynch Review periodically, a journal featuring articles on subjects ranging from local industries and wartime contributions to personal recollections and architectural notes. Digitised volumes are available for reference, offering insights into topics like brick-making, estate histories, and community events.

Exhibitions form a key part of the society’s work, with displays mounted in village halls and churches to highlight specific themes, including school anniversaries and the parish during the First World War. These efforts often involve collaboration with other groups, contributing panels to broader commemorative initiatives.

A trail guide produced by the society outlines points of historical interest throughout Redlynch, drawing on research into roads, commons, and older settlements.
